Best Sims 4 Career Mods (2026): 8 Mods for Better Jobs
The base game careers in The Sims 4 get boring fast. You click "Go to Work", your Sim vanishes for eight hours, and a few in-game weeks later they're at the top of the ladder with more money than they can spend. Career mods fix that from two sides: some make the existing jobs harder and more rewarding, others add jobs EA never shipped, like nurse, lawyer, pharmacist or model.
We went through the career mods people keep recommending on Reddit and CurseForge, checked each creator's page for the latest version and patch notes, and kept the eight that are worth your Mods folder in 2026. Each one links to the creator's own page, so you always get the newest file.

1. Career Overhaul Suite
If you only install one career mod, make it this one. Kuttoe's Career Overhaul Suite rebalances almost every EA career instead of adding new ones. Early levels pay less, pay grows faster the higher your Sim climbs, and the top salaries end up closer to what the job would really earn. Promotions also ask for more: higher skill levels, plus new goals like a university degree, a certain number of friends or some fame. Entertainers can now use any performance skill, criminals, smugglers and villains lose reputation, and culinary workers bring home goodie bags.
The small touches are what make it feel lived-in. Your Sim meets coworkers over time without you forcing it, famous Sims get a pay bonus of 5% per fame level (up to 25%), and musicians get party outfits. The September 2025 update also reworked the Romance Consultant, Reaper, Undertaker and Naturopath careers and added Needlework, Thanatology and Natural Living to promotion requirements. There's an optional Degree Nerf file that makes degree holders start around level 4-5 instead of skipping half the ladder.
Needs: base game. Pack content files are split out, so you delete the ones for packs you don't own. Don't combine it with other mods that change promotion requirements, and use the Degree Nerf only if you have no other degree mod.
Status: the itch.io page was last updated on May 15, 2026 (a Generate Coworkers fix for Home Regions). Kuttoe hasn't posted a separate note for patch 1.128.90, so check the page after each patch.
2. Unlimited Jobs+
Want a Sim who's a doctor by day, a freelance artist at night and still has a weekend job at the diner? Unlimited Jobs+ lets one Sim hold several full-time careers, part-time jobs and freelancer trades at the same time, including careers added by other mods. Hours are allowed to overlap, so it's up to you to plan a schedule that won't burn your Sim out (or don't, and enjoy the chaos).
It's TURBODRIVER's endorsed port of DrAnimaniac's old Unlimited Jobs mod, which broke years ago. You add a new freelancer trade through "Change Freelancer Trade" and drop any job with "Quit Job". Version 1.5 stopped NPCs from grabbing several jobs on their own and fixed work outfits for Sims with more than one career. With almost 1.4 million downloads on CurseForge it's one of the most used gameplay mods around.
Needs: base game. It doesn't touch career tuning, so it works fine with Career Overhaul Suite and the custom careers below.
Status: version 1.5 (November 2024). The CurseForge file lists game version 1.128.90 as supported.

3. Lawyer (Active) Career
The Law career from Discover University is a rabbit hole. KiaraSims4Mods turned it into an active job you actually go to, like the doctor or detective careers. Your Sim starts as a Legal Process Server, works up through Paralegal and Budding Barrister, and finishes as Chief Justice. Along the way they file court documents, research case law, meet clients, attend depositions and trials, and later preside over cases and write Supreme Court opinions.
Trials have real outcomes: you can win, lose or end up with a deadlock. After a trial you check the verdict status on a work computer, go home, and wait for a text that tells you the verdict reading is on. The work moves from a law firm to a law office and finally to a Supreme Court building. Sims with a History or Language and Literature degree start at level 4, or level 5 with honors.
Needs: Get to Work, Discover University, Basemental's Venue List and XML Injector.

4. Model Career
Kiara's Model Career is the one to grab if your Sim lives for the camera. It starts small with Promotional Model, Body Parts Model and Advertisement Model, then splits in two. The Commercial branch goes through Magazine, Catalog, Social Media, Fitness, Television and Billboard modeling up to Global Supermodel. The High Fashion branch covers Swimsuit, Lingerie, Runway, Glamour and Editorial work and ends with High Fashion Model.
Promotions depend on Charisma, Fitness and fame, and some levels ask for social media numbers like 5,000 or even a million followers. On days off your Sim can work from home: sell photos, pose for shoots, do meet and greets or film beauty videos. A Communications degree skips you to level 2, or level 3 with honors.
Needs: City Living, Get Famous, Moschino Stuff and XML Injector.

5. Nurse Career
The Doctor career skips the most common hospital job of all. Delimaci's Nurse Career has 10 levels, from Nurse Associate to Registered Nurse, and after level 2 you choose between General Nursing and Pediatric Nursing. It comes with nurse uniforms, custom career tones, so it doesn't feel like a reskinned EA career.
It's a rabbit-hole career, so it fits players who want the story without micromanaging shifts. Sims with a Biology degree from Discover University start at level 2. Delimaci calls it experimental and keeps adding to it. Teens can take it too, and there's a separate teen version if you want a lighter job for younger Sims.
Needs: base game. The uniforms use Get to Work items, and the degree bonus needs Discover University.

6. Pharmacist Career
Midnitetech rebuilt this one from an old Sims 3 career, and it's a lot more than a name and a salary table. Your Sim climbs 10 levels from Pharmacy Assistant to Director of Pharmaceutical Services, with new uniforms, daily tasks, certifications to earn, career tones and chance cards that can go well or very badly.
It also adds custom socials, so a pharmacist can talk shop with other Sims. It's a solid pick if you like calmer medical stories, or if you want a healthcare job that isn't the ER.
Needs: base game, plus Lot 51 Core Library and the latest midnitetech_modlibrary.

7. All Hours Career Pack (Full-Time)
This is the big one from midnitetech: 20 full-time careers, each with a day shift and a night shift, and the creator lists 60 levels per career, each with a daily task. You get custom buffs, interactions and outfits, and the world reacts to it. NPC coworkers show up, there are neighborhood stories, and your Sim can even get laid off.
It's ideal if your town feels empty because every Sim is a "Freelancer" or "Unemployed". Run it with Career Overhaul Suite and the job market suddenly looks like an actual city.
Needs: base game, Lot 51 Core Library and midnitetech_modlibrary. Some careers use pack skills: DJ (Get Together), Flower Arranging (Seasons), Fabrication (Eco Lifestyle) and Baking (Get to Work).

8. Saturday Solutions Career Pack (Part-Time)
The part-time jobs in the base game are few and very samey. Saturday Solutions adds 20 one-level part-time jobs for teens and up, like Pet Daycare Assistant, Flea Market Helper, Styling Assistant, Local Events Reporter, Park Ranger Aide and Archive Room Organizer. Each has an AM and a PM shift you can swap through the phone or computer, and the daily tasks are done there too.
There are over 300 chance card outcomes, raises if you keep overperforming, and sometimes the boss calls in your Sim for a surprise shift. It replaces midnitetech's older Saturday Jobs Pack, so delete those files and have your Sims rejoin the jobs.

How to Choose the Right Career Mods
Start with what bugs you most. If it's that careers are too easy, Career Overhaul Suite is the fix. If you want new jobs, pick by playstyle: Kiara's Lawyer career is active, so you follow your Sim to work, while the Nurse, Pharmacist and midnitetech packs are rabbit holes that run in the background. If you play teens or a broke young adult, Saturday Solutions gives them something to do on weekends, and Unlimited Jobs+ lets them stack it with a real job later.
Check the packs too. Model Career needs three packs plus XML Injector, Lawyer needs two packs, and the rest work with the base game.
Install Order and Tips
- Put the required libraries in first: XML Injector for Kiara's careers, and Lot 51 Core Library plus midnitetech_modlibrary for the three midnitetech careers. One copy of each is enough.
- Script files (.ts4script) can't go more than one folder deep inside Mods, and script mods must be switched on in Game Options.
- EA's next game update is planned for October 27, 2026. Career mods with script parts can break after a patch, so check each creator's page before you play.
- If a career stops showing up in the job list, delete localthumbcache.package from your Sims 4 folder and try again.
- When you remove a career mod, have your Sims quit that job first so the save doesn't keep a broken career.
FAQ
Can I use Career Overhaul Suite with custom careers?
Yes. It only changes EA careers, so custom careers like Nurse or Lawyer keep their own pay and requirements. Just avoid other mods that also change EA promotion requirements.
Which career mods work with only the base game?
Career Overhaul Suite, Unlimited Jobs+, Nurse Career, Pharmacist Career, All Hours Career Pack and Saturday Solutions all run on the base game. A few extras (uniforms, degree bonuses, some skills) use packs if you have them.
Are these career mods free?
Yes, all eight are free on the creators' pages. Some creators offer early access on Patreon, but the public versions are free.
Do I need to reinstall career mods after every patch?
Not every time, but you should check for updates. Tuning-only careers usually keep working, while mods with script files are the ones that break most often.
