Basemental Alcohol
Basemental Alcohol by Basemental turns the harmless juice served at every bar in The Sims 4 into real alcohol. A few rounds later your Sim is drunk, then wasted, and the night comes with moodlets and consequences that carry over into the next day.
The mod is free and needs only the base game. It includes a small script file, so Script Mods must be switched on. Version 6.8 is the current public build, and Basemental has confirmed that all of its mods work with patch 1.129.39. Do not run it together with Basemental Drugs, because that larger mod already includes every alcohol feature and having both installed causes conflicts.
How Basemental Alcohol Changes Drinking in Sims 4
There is nothing new to buy or learn. Sims order drinks at a bar exactly as before, but now every glass pushes them one step further. While a Sim is drunk, wasted or sobering up, the phone gets a Drunk Text option. The reply depends on how the night is going, and a badly timed message can cost some relationship points with whoever receives it.
Push too far and the body pushes back. Sims who overdo it may throw up or pass out, and the morning after brings a hangover that matches how hard they partied. Regular heavy drinking can lead to an Addicted to Alcohol moodlet that lasts five days and resets with every drink, and staying sober while it is active brings a wave of negative moodlets. Tolerance traits from the Rewards Store let you make a Sim more or less resistant.
Optional Packages
- Real Drink Names – renames the game's juices to real drink names
- Beer Brewing Station – turns the Juice Fizzer from Eco Lifestyle into a working beer brewer
- Wine Maker – turns the Nectar Maker from Horse Ranch into a wine maker and adds a Yeast ingredient
- Remove Keg Buffs – hides the keg drinking moodlets to keep the screen tidy, while the effects stay in place
Each add-on is a separate file in the Optional Packages folder, so keep only the ones you want. The brewing station and wine maker are only useful if you own the pack they are based on.
For players who want nights out to have real consequences without the whole Basemental Drugs package, this is the lighter and simpler choice.
