Best Sims 4 Christmas Mods (2026): 7 Mods for a Family Winterfest
Winterfest in The Sims 4 is over fast. The tree goes up, Father Winter shows up for an hour, the kids open a present that turns out to be a seed packet, and by the next morning it's just another winter day. If you play families, that's a lot of build-up for very little story.
These seven Christmas mods spread the holiday across the whole of December. We've put them in the order you'd use them in a family save: a countdown first, then wishes and letters, then the night before, and finally a better present pile on the day itself. All of them were checked on the creator's page in late October 2026, and every section links to that page.
- Best countdown: Advent Calendar by SonozakiSisters
- Best for kids' wishes: Letter to Father Winter by ilkavelle
- Best for teens and adults: Make A Wishlist by Danitysimmer
- Best for working parents: Christmas Bonus by ellesimsworld
- Best party: Winterfest Eve by KiaraSims4Mods
- Best fix for bad presents: Better Gift Pile by t0nischwartz
- Base game picks: Christmas Bonus and Festive Hot Chocolate
1. Advent Calendar

This is the one to start December with. Any Sim from child age up can buy an Advent calendar during winter through the phone's shopping menu, the computer's order menu or Build/Buy. It costs §1,000, lands in the household inventory, and once it's placed the Sim can open one present a day for seven days. Each day has its own gift list and it changes with age, so a child might get a toy while an adult gets a bottle of wine.
The nice part is how Sims react. They judge each gift by their traits, age, lifestyle and likes, and the mod even knows about chingyu's 100 Character Traits pack. The calendar moves to the next day overnight, stops after day seven and comes back the next winter. Children and older can also give a calendar to a friend (30 friendship needed), and there's a cheat menu on the calendar if you want to jump to a certain day.
Needs: Seasons and Lot51 Core Library. More packs mean a wider gift pool.
Status: last mod update Dec 6, 2025 (autonomy fix). On Jul 27, 2026 the creator said all their mods work on patch 1.126.
2. Christmas Bonus

Gifts cost money, and this mini mod gives the parents a little more of it. On any computer, the Career menu gets a "Receive a Christmas bonus" option that pays out somewhere between §50 and §1,000, with a happy or annoyed moodlet depending on the amount.
What happens next is up to you. An unhappy Sim can email the boss to complain, with a 50% chance of getting fired. A grateful one can send a thank-you email and has a 25% chance of a promotion. The bonus can be claimed once, then the option comes back after seven Sim days. One warning from the creator: if you use a mod that allows several careers at once, getting fired may remove all of them.
Needs: XML Injector. Base game compatible.
Status: creator's changelog says compatible with patch 1.125.59 (Jul 4, 2026). The creator has posted a compatibility check for nearly every patch since January 2025.
3. Letter to Father Winter

In the base game Father Winter hands out random stuff. ilkavelle's mod lets a child write him a letter at the Kids Activity Table and choose from 25 gift categories. The wish then shows up in the Simology panel, a bit like a New Year's resolution, and the child gets it when they open a present from Father Winter, open one from the present pile, or ask him directly. It also adds "Write a Letter to Father Winter" as a holiday tradition you can put on your calendar.
The creator is upfront that it was made quickly and has a quirk: sometimes the gift task completes too early, for example when another Sim gives a present first. The mod page lists easy fixes (drag the gift into the inventory again, pop into Build/Buy or the world map).
Needs: Seasons and XML Injector.
Status: latest file Jan 24, 2025, marked compatible on CurseForge through patch 1.126.78.

4. Make A Wishlist

Letters are a kid thing. Make A Wishlist works for every Sim from child up, which makes it the better pick for teens, roommates and couples. In winter, the computer gets a Make A Wish menu under Household where your Sim types their own list, separating items with commas. You can add to it later, view it or wipe it and start again, and the list is saved per Sim, so it works fine in rotational play.
The social side is the fun part. Under Friendly, Small Talk, Sims can tell others what's on their list or ask about theirs. When someone asks your Sim for a hint, there's a 50% chance they give a real one and 50% that they throw out a fake. Children, teens and young adults can mail the list to the North Pole, and anyone child and older can email it. Once it's sent the list locks until you clear it.
Needs: Seasons and the Danitysimmer Framework (her free script library).
Status: post updated Sep 24, 2026. The Framework it depends on was updated Oct 26, 2026 (v1.5.4).
5. Fireside Kettle Co. Festive Hot Chocolate

Every holiday save needs something warm to drink while the presents get wrapped. icemunmun's Hot Chocolate Maker is a base game small appliance (§250) that makes a single cup or a pot of three, with its own moodlets. The Fireside Kettle Co. add-on gives it a holiday upgrade: seven new flavours such as Almond Spiced, Biscoff, Cherry Cordial, Nutty Grinch and Minty Santa, a tabletop Insta Hot Chocolate Pot that holds eight servings, a serving tray, new swatches and portable servings that can go into a sack lunch.
Search "Kettle Co." in Build/Buy to find the new pieces. Some recipes use ingredients from icemunmun's optional ingredient files, which are listed on the maker's page.
Needs: Hot Chocolate Maker by icemunmun. Base game compatible.
Status: both files updated Dec 1, 2025, tagged for 1.119.109. EA's Oct 27, 2026 update changes food and drinks, so check icemunmun's page before you use it after that.

6. Winterfest Eve

Winterfest Eve is a new social event for the day before the holiday. You plan it like any other event and get a list of goals that feel right for a family Christmas Eve: make a dessert, cook a group meal, get three Sims playing video games, decorate, have a snowball fight, build a snowpal together, make a snow angel and sneak a present under the tree. The main goal is listening to winter holiday music.
It isn't only about Christmas, either. Lighting the menorah and the kinara are goals too, so it fits households that celebrate more than one holiday. Finishing the event gets you a Candle Log Display as a reward.
Needs: Seasons and Lovestruck.
Status: latest file Mar 12, 2026, tagged for 1.121.372.

7. Better Gift Pile

The morning itself is where vanilla Winterfest lets you down the most. The creator sums it up well: Sims open a seed packet, a random collectible or a literal piece of poop. Better Gift Pile replaces that pool with more than 80 new gift variations, including 33 standard ones and 7 new bad gifts, so a dud present is still possible, it's just funnier.
It works on the Pile of Presents, the Large Pile of Presents, the presents under the Ever Delightful Evergreen Holiday Tree, and gifts from Father Winter and other NPCs on birthdays and gift-giving holidays. The gifts depend on the packs you own. Collectibles are gone from the pool except gems, postcards and MySims dolls.
Needs: Seasons.
Status: v1.2, rebuilt and updated Dec 19, 2025. No newer patch note on the page.

Install Tips
- Install XML Injector and Lot51 Core Library once and keep them updated. Several holiday mods share them.
- Letter to Father Winter and Better Gift Pile both deal with presents from Father Winter. Their creators don't list a conflict, but test them together on a spare save before Winterfest comes around in your main one.
- Keep .ts4script files no more than one folder deep inside Mods and turn on script mods in Game Options.
- EA's next game update is due October 27, 2026 and it touches food, drinks and dining. Check each creator's page after it, especially for the hot chocolate files.
- Delete localthumbcache.package after you add or update mods.
FAQ
Do Sims 4 Christmas mods need Seasons?
Most of them do, because Winterfest, Father Winter and the holiday calendar all come from Seasons. Christmas Bonus and the hot chocolate mods are the two in this list that run on the base game.
Is there a mod that lets kids ask Father Winter for a specific gift?
Yes. Letter to Father Winter lets a child pick from 25 gift categories and then receive that gift from Father Winter or the present pile. Make A Wishlist lets any Sim write a free-text list and send it to the North Pole.
Can I celebrate Christmas Eve in The Sims 4?
Not as a separate holiday in the base game, but Winterfest Eve adds a planned event for the day before Winterfest with its own goals and a reward.
Are these mods free?
Yes. All seven are free downloads on the creators' pages linked above. Some creators offer early access to patrons, so the public version may come out a little later.
